At its October 5, 2026 meeting, Council directed staff to provide residents with an update on the outstanding items Lower Beverley Lake Park must complete to meet Township requirements. Lower Beverley Lake Park is owned by the Township of Rideau Lakes and is subject to applicable Township planning, zoning and building requirements.
What is needed now?
The Park must provide the Township with:
- a professional site plan showing the Park as it exists today; and
- an inventory of the trailers, buildings, decks and other structures at each campsite.
These documents are needed before the Township can complete its planning and building reviews. The Township has already confirmed that site plan approval and zoning relief will be required. The full scope of required planning approvals cannot be confirmed until the site plan and inventory are received and reviewed. The building department has also identified decks and ramps that were built without required building permits. An Order to Comply has been issued requiring the Park to address these items.
Where things stand
The Lower Beverley Lake Park Management Board submitted a work plan to the Township on August 27, 2026. The work plan identifies the site plan and building inventory as the next major steps. As of the date of this release, the completed site plan and inventory have not yet been submitted to Development Services. The Park Board’s current work plan expects the survey and inventory work to take place this fall, with the completed site plan and inventory submitted in December 2026. These are target dates and may change as the work moves forward.
What happens next?
- Once the site plan and inventory are received:
- Development Services will confirm what planning approvals are required;
- The building department will compare the inventory with available building permit records; and
- The Park will be required to complete any further applications, permits, studies or corrective work identified through those reviews.
Separate sewage and engineering work is also ongoing with the Park’s consultants and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. This work is subject to separate technical and provincial approval processes.
The Township will provide further updates as this work continues.
