What Are Development Charges
Development charges are fees collected under the Development Charges Act, 1997 to help fund the cost of municipal infrastructure and services needed to support growth. They apply to most new residential and non-residential development.
Development charges help fund:
- roads and related
- fire services
- waste diversion services
- parks and recreation
- library services
- growth-related studies
Education Development Charges
Education development charges help school boards acquire land and cover growth-related costs for new school sites resulting from new development.
