Why Do I Need a Permit?
A building permit is required for many construction projects under the Ontario Building Code Act.
Permits help ensure construction is safe, meets Building Code requirements, and protects public health, fire safety, accessibility, and the environment.
Do not begin work until your permit has been issued. Starting without a permit may result in additional fees or enforcement action.
